The Sister of NEW Pre-Apprenticeship Program (S.O.N.) stands at the forefront of an essential movement to enhance the construction workforce worldwide by empowering women to pursue careers in the skilled trades. As a 501(c)(3) organization, we are uniquely equipped to bridge the gap between unions, contractors, and developers and the untapped potential of tradeswomen, ensuring a more diverse and capable workforce in the construction industry.
Recognizing the specialized requirements and challenges of construction careers, our program is designed to cultivate reliable and motivated women, equipping them with the necessary skills to thrive in this demanding field. Each participant will undergo rigorous training tailored to industry standards, culminating in an evaluation where all graduates will earn the designation of "trades-ready" by experienced journey-level tradespeople.
Our comprehensive curriculum includes hands-on occupational training, vital on-site experience, as well as fundamental physical and mental resilience training. Furthermore, we are committed to addressing the barriers that many aspiring tradeswomen face; our program provides essential daycare resources for participants with children aged twelve and under, ensuring that all women can fully engage in their training without compromising their family responsibilities.
Through the Sister of NEW initiative, we aim to not only equip women with valuable construction skills but also to foster an inclusive environment that encourages growth and success in the construction industry. By investing in the next generation of tradeswomen, we are strengthening worlds construction workforce and paving the way for a more equitable future. Join us in advancing this vital mission and reshaping the landscape of skilled trades worldwide.
